- Find your variable.
- Find out what else is happening on that side, meaning what operations is happening. 2x + 3 = 13. Your variable is x and there is an expression where 3 is being added to my 2x. All of it equals to 13 right now.
- Balance is by doing the opposite operation o + 3 by - 3 on both sides. At this point you should have 2x = 10.
- To get X by itself you have to divide it by 2, and x = 5
- To be sure of yourself; plug the value of x back into the original equation. 2(5) + 3 = 13. You got it! Tomorrow we make note cards, Yahoo!
If you haven't turned in your homework: here is what is due. Today you have turn to page 123 problems d and e. Use the examples as a guide for the problems. Yesterday, you should have done Two-Step equations from page 124 problems 1,2, and 3. Be ready for a quiz tomorrow. Go through the steps from yesterday on Two-Step.
