Week 18 (1-18-21) Ray Mathematics--Remote Leaning Mr. Florell ([email protected]) Weekly Update
Happy New Year, my name is Señorita Dent and I am the new Spanish teacher! I sent you an email before school started in August introducing myself and I am so excited to finally have the 7th and 8th grade students in class beginning today, Monday, January 4th, 2021. Below is information on when each homeroom has Spanish class as well as the GoogleMeet links and GoogleClassroom links for each class. I will see each homeroom class live for 30 minutes each week and they will be assigned a mini project every Monday and are expected to complete it by the following Monday. I will post a video explaining the assignment along with written instructions on their Spanish GoogleClassroom each Monday morning. If the students have any questions or want to set up a time for virtual office hours then they may email me at [email protected] anytime. Students are expected to attend Spanish class every day, and not doing so will result in a loss in participation points, which makes up the largest portion of their grade. If they will miss class or be late due to an excused absence then I expect an email from the student and/or guardian before class. Homeroom 302 will have Spanish class from 1:10 PM - 1:40 PM every Monday. Homeroom 304 will have Spanish class from 1:10 PM - 1:40 PM every Tuesday. Homeroom 306 will have Spanish class from 1:10 PM - 1:40 PM every Wednesday Homeroom 307 will have Spanish class from 1:10 PM - 1:40 PM every Thursday. Homeroom 309 will have Spanish class from 1:10 PM - 1:40 PM every Friday. Homeroom 302
Please let me know if you have any questions and I look forward to virtually seeing the 7th and 8th-grade students soon! Sincerely, Señorita Dent
WEEKLY MATH UPDATES Our main focus is still connecting with students, getting to know each other, and learning how to use the technology that will facilitate our learning. We know there will still be challenges, glitches, and frustrations this week. That’s okay! We will be forgiving, patient, and flexible and hope you will do the same. For immediate tech help try the CPS Online Reopening Guide support page. 7th and 8th grade We will continue a unit on percentages. Then we will spend the rest of the week looking at how we apply the percent of a number--especially when we use fraction form and decimal form. Then we will spend the rest of the week looking at how we apply the area formula for circles--especially when we only have part of circle.
8th grade We will start the week with SEL check-ins. We continue to look at proportional relationships as we prepare to study linear relationships. We will study how proportional relationships are communicated through tables, graphs, and equations AND how we see the constant of proportionality in all those forms. We will then compare proportional relationships--for example, the price of two different companies for services.
