Each student needs to read every night and have a signature for that day. At the end of each week the student will have to write a plot explanation class assignment. This is necessary for completion for their reading grade. The student can change the book each week, but needs to get approval from Mr. Florell

Final writing project will be due 5/23. The final MELCON essay is due which includes the first paragraph, three ideas supporting evidence paragraphs, and conclusion. The Rubric will be handed out regarding all 54 points that are due. Students have to have their interview completed a MELCON paragraph which is a biography of their subject and a paragraph or more about the answers to questions (this varies per person) the student feels were most important. Finally, the conclusion needs to be completed.
This will be taught next week. There will be tutoring provided by appointment during recess, after school every day but Tuesday. Remember this project includes Benchmark grades for Reading, Writing, and Speaking and cover Benchmark Goals needed for graduation. Also, each day of the week each student needs to have read a fiction novel and have their parent sign each day (ten per two weeks). This is important for completion of the Reading grade. At the end of each week, the student needs to complete a plot explanation chart. The 8th grade luncheon fee of $58.00 is due immediately to be paid either at the homeroom of Mrs. Johnson or Ms. Erickson. The trip is tentatively June 6th to Navy Pier. The luncheon will begin at 11:00am and end 1:00p. All will be boarding at 10:30am at the Odyssey Cruise at Navy Pier. Buses will be provided at Ray at a time announced this week. If you haven't given a count for the amount of tickets needed please do so ASAP.
