WEEKLY MATH UPDATES
Our main focus is still connecting with students, getting to know each other, and learning how to use the technology that will facilitate our learning. We know there will still be challenges, glitches, and frustrations this week. That’s okay! We will be forgiving, patient, and flexible and hope you will do the same. For immediate tech help try the CPS Online Reopening Guide support page.
7th and 8th grade We will start the week with SEL check-ins. We continue to look at proportional relationships as we prepare to unit rates with ratios and proportion relationships. We will create unit rates, and interest rates from a small business loan. Analysis for will come from three different ways--graphs, tables, and equations.
- 8.EE.BUnderstand the connections between proportional relationships, lines, and linear equations.
Students will continue to use Khan Academy for individual/asynchronous learning.
Students will learn to build a business by managing the dollars and cents, costs, percentages, marketing/advertising, and researching economics. Each day will involve a new problem, and the students will have to use their reading strategies, and new found vocabulary to navigate through the success and failure of having a small business. These week is about the business plan and finding a unit rate for comparison.
