Welcome back! This is going to be an exiting year. I hope that you and I will communicate to help your child grow emotionally and academically. My email address is [email protected]. So far so good. We have chosen our books to log, taken out NWEA tests, began the New Inventors project. Next week we will present our Hawaii research project. Khan Academy and Read Theory have been assigned to my class. Homework will be given at the latest Tuesday to be determined Friday or Monday.
Google Classroom is open along with Class Dojo. So sign up! Mr. Florell This is going to be a great year. We have 10 graduating 8th graders. We also have 11 7th grade students. The two areas of my focus is Language Arts and Math. We are hoping to make great gains this year on learning where we and taking it to the next level. Our modes of communication are Class Dojo, Google Classroom, and email. This week you will be given codes for communication.

Students and parents check your portal for any unfinished work. We are approaching the 5 week mark. Student are welcome to come in recess, lunch, advisory, and Tuesday after school to finish anything not yet turned in.
We have 7 weeks to go to Summer. Let's make the final weeks count. 8th graders focus on these next few weeks because graduation practices are going to cut into our academics. So, let's bring the grades up!

Create a diorama of a scene from a book or movie you enjoy. Make a map the neighborhood, or your walk to school. Create a blueprint of your bedroom. You will need to determine and show the scale factor between the actual thing you model and the model you create and demonstrate an understanding through a written description of how you determined the size of objects or drawings in your model based on the actual thing you are modelling.
