6th Grad will be working into actualizing word problems and finding in our words to know what is expected of the problem and what operation we will use to convert. Also, we will look more into the progress check we had for using fractions on a number line.
7th grade will continue to find proportions and solve by cross multiplication.
From ELA we will begin 6th grade to write a narrative and poetry from a list.
7th grade will continue to Given access to graphic organizers and sentence starters, as well as access to assistive technology, student will produce an argumentative, persuasive, or explanatory writing piece that includes the following: an introductory paragraph containing an attention grabber, a topic statement, and a thesis statement; two body paragraphs containing a topic sentence, text evidence, and an explanation of how the text evidence supports her thesis statement; and a conclusion that contains a restatement of her thesis as well as a concluding statement, in 4 out of 5 attempts.
Also, focus on declarative sentences. Don't forget to read 30 minutes a day and keep a Reading Log.
8th Grade: Given sentence starters students will write a summary of the reading selection including characters, setting, major event and ending, and retell the passage to an adult 8/10 opportunities.
We will also begin writing about a persuasive essay about whether it is right to use Native Americans as mascots.
