The key concept we are working on is multiplying the powers with the same base; when we do we add the exponents. The homework tonight. A monomial is a number, a variable, or a product of a number and one or more variables. We can use the Laws of Exponents to simplify monomials. 3^2 x 3^4 = (3 x 3) x (3 x 3 x 3 x 3) or 3 ^ 6.
